FAQ’S
Answers for employers hiring pharmacy professionals, and for pharmacists and pharmacy professionals exploring their next opportunity.
For Employers
Permanent placement, also known as direct hire recruitment, is a recruiting service designed to help employers identify and hire qualified professionals for long-term positions within their organization.
York Healthcare Solutions works with employers to understand the position, identify qualified candidates, screen potential applicants, coordinate interviews, assist throughout the hiring process, and ultimately help connect the organization with the right candidate.
Once hired, the candidate becomes an employee of the hiring organization, not York Healthcare Solutions.
Our primary focus is pharmacy recruitment. We can assist organizations searching for a variety of pharmacy professionals, including:
We can also discuss customized searches for positions requiring specific clinical experience, certifications, licenses, or leadership backgrounds.
York Healthcare Solutions can partner with healthcare organizations across the pharmacy industry, including hospitals and health systems, independent and community pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, retail pharmacies, long-term care pharmacies, home infusion organizations, mail-order pharmacies, pharmacy benefit organizations, manufacturers, and other healthcare companies employing pharmacy professionals.
We begin by learning about your organization, the position, required qualifications, compensation structure, location, schedule, organizational culture, and the characteristics you believe will make someone successful in the role.
From there, we develop a targeted recruiting strategy that may include direct candidate outreach, professional networking, database searches, industry relationships, referrals, and other sourcing channels.
Potential candidates are screened before being presented to your organization. We then help coordinate communication and interviews and remain involved through the offer and acceptance process.
Our goal is not simply to send CV’s.
York Healthcare Solutions takes a relationship-driven approach to recruitment with a particular focus on understanding the pharmacy industry and the specific needs of both the employer and the pharmacist.
Our pharmacy recruitment efforts are led with firsthand knowledge of the profession, allowing us to better understand pharmacy practice settings, professional credentials, licensing requirements, career progression, and the characteristics that can make a candidate successful within a particular pharmacy environment.
We focus on finding the right long-term match rather than simply filling an opening.
Pharmacy positions can be highly specialized.
The qualifications required for a Director of Pharmacy at a hospital may be very different from those needed for a specialty pharmacist, infusion pharmacist, community pharmacist, or Pharmacist-in-Charge.
Working with a recruiter who understands pharmacy can help your organization more effectively identify candidates based on factors such as practice setting, licensure, clinical experience, leadership background, technology experience, certifications, and career goals.
It also allows the recruiting conversation to go beyond keywords on a CV.
Yes.
One of the primary advantages of working with a recruiter is the ability to reach professionals who may not be actively searching job boards.
Many strong candidates are currently employed and may only consider another opportunity if the right position is presented to them.
Our recruiting strategy can include proactive outreach and relationship development with both active and passive candidates.
Our screening process is designed around the requirements of each individual search.
Depending on the position, we may evaluate a candidate's:
Employers remain responsible for their own credentialing, background checks, reference requirements, and final hiring decisions unless additional services have specifically been agreed upon.
Pharmacist licensure is an important part of evaluating pharmacy candidates.
Licensure requirements vary by state and position. York Healthcare Solutions can help identify relevant licensing information during the recruiting process, while the hiring organization should complete its required primary-source verification, credentialing, background screening, and compliance procedures before employment.
Yes.
Specialized and difficult-to-fill positions are often where a targeted recruiting strategy provides the most value.
We can develop searches based on specific requirements such as hospital experience, sterile compounding, oncology, specialty pharmacy, infusion, ambulatory care, pharmacy leadership, particular software systems, board certifications, residency training, or other specialized experience.
Yes.
We understand that employers may occasionally need to conduct a search confidentially because of leadership transitions, succession planning, business expansion, or other sensitive circumstances.
Confidentiality requirements should be discussed with us at the beginning of the engagement so an appropriate recruiting strategy can be established.
Every search is different.
The timeline can depend on the position, geographic location, compensation, schedule, required experience, licensing requirements, availability of candidates, and competitiveness of the local market.
Our objective is to begin recruiting quickly while maintaining an emphasis on candidate quality and long-term fit.
No.
The hiring decision always belongs to your organization.
Our role is to identify, recruit, and introduce candidates who appear to align with your requirements. You determine whom you interview and ultimately hire.
Permanent placement recruiting fees are established in the client agreement before a search begins.
Fees are typically associated with a successful placement and are based on the terms agreed upon between York Healthcare Solutions and the hiring organization.
We believe in establishing clear expectations regarding fees and placement terms before beginning an engagement.
Placement guarantee terms, when applicable, are outlined in the individual client agreement.
We recognize that long-term fit is important, which is why our recruiting process focuses on understanding both the employer and candidate before a placement is made.
Contact us to discuss the guarantee provisions available for your search.
Absolutely.
We can work with organizations on an individual difficult-to-fill position or develop a recruiting strategy for multiple openings.
For organizations experiencing growth, expansion, turnover, or ongoing pharmacy hiring needs, we can discuss a more comprehensive recruiting partnership.
York Healthcare Solutions can conduct searches beyond a single local market and help identify pharmacy professionals across multiple geographic areas.
Because pharmacist licensing requirements vary by state, each search is evaluated based on the employer's location and licensing requirements.
Yes.
When appropriate, our candidate search can include pharmacists outside the immediate geographic area who are willing to relocate.
Relocation expectations, licensing requirements, and any employer-provided relocation assistance should be discussed early in the recruiting process so they can be accurately communicated to prospective candidates.
For Pharmacy Professionals
No.
Pharmacy professionals are not charged a fee for being considered for employment opportunities through York Healthcare Solutions.
Our recruiting fees are paid by the hiring organization according to the terms of our agreement with that employer.
Working with a recruiter can provide another avenue for learning about career opportunities.
A recruiter can help you understand the position, employer expectations, compensation, schedule, location, interview process, and other factors before you decide whether an opportunity makes sense for you.
We can also introduce qualified candidates to organizations where we have established recruiting relationships.
Our goal is to maintain a transparent relationship with candidates.
We want you to understand the opportunity and be interested in exploring it before your information is formally presented to an employer.
Your career search should be treated professionally and confidentially.
Yes.
Many professionals exploring opportunities are currently employed.
We understand the importance of discretion and can have an initial confidential conversation about your experience, career goals, location preferences, compensation expectations, and the types of opportunities you would consider.

Some of the professionals we build relationships with may not be actively searching for another position.
If you are open to hearing about the right opportunity, we encourage you to connect with us.

Providing a current CV is a great starting point.
It is also helpful for us to understand:
The more we understand about what you are looking for, the more targeted our conversations can be.
Yes.
We can discuss opportunities outside your current state and identify whether your experience may align with positions in other markets.
Because pharmacist licensing requirements differ by state, additional licensure may be required before beginning employment.
We review your experience and compare it with current and future opportunities.
If we identify an opportunity that appears to match your experience and career goals, we may contact you to discuss the position in greater detail.
Submitting a CV does not obligate you to pursue an opportunity or accept a position.
When we are representing you for one of our client opportunities, we want you to understand the position and be prepared for the interview process.
We can help communicate information about the employer, position, expectations, interview process, and other relevant details available to us.
With a permanent or direct-hire placement, you become an employee of the hiring organization.
Your compensation, benefits, employment policies, schedule, onboarding requirements, and other employment terms are established between you and your new employer.
York Healthcare Solutions facilitates the recruitment and hiring process but is not your employer after a permanent placement.
Absolutely.
We encourage pharmacy professionals to introduce themselves even when they are not actively pursuing a specific opening.
Recruiting is relationship-driven, and new opportunities can develop quickly.
By understanding your background and career interests ahead of time, we may be able to contact you when an appropriate opportunity becomes available.
Employers looking for pharmacy talent can contact York Healthcare Solutions to discuss their hiring needs and develop a recruiting strategy.
Pharmacists and pharmacy professionals can submit a CV or contact us confidentially to discuss career goals and the types of opportunities they would be interested in exploring.
